Structured Cabling

The Concept
. Structured cabling or ‘smart wiring’ is all of your home’s low voltage cabling designed and installed in a coherent manner. This includes telephony, computer networks, AV wiring and TV distribution. . All cables are terminated into a central patch panel which maintains an orderly appearance and makes future amendments simple.

Isn’t everything wireless now? Wireless technology is evolving and improving apace. However, as it stands, the transmission quality over cable, whether in the context of home computing, TV or video transmission is superior in every way. In the scheme of a home-building project the percentage cost of a fully realised low voltage network is minimal. When it comes to cable, it is better to be looking at it than for it!

TV Distribution. Most new builds or renovated houses are wired for multiple TV’s and cabled to avail of all cable and satellite providers. Even if you do not envisage installing TV’s in the bedrooms, it may be a selling point in the future.

Voice & Data. Comprehensive CAT5 cable networks to support current and future telephony/computing needs have been a standard part of commercial buildings for years. With the rollout of broadband and the increased importance of computing in our lives, reliable internet and intranet access throughout the home is a must. CAT6 and the less common CAT7 cable systems offer greater levels of data transfer and signal integrity albeit at a higher cost. These can help to future proof your home’s cable infrastructure for more demanding network applications as they become available.

AV Pre-wire.  If your budget is restricted or you are unsure whether you want to purchase audio/visual equipment for your new home, it is possible to pre-wire for a number of different systems. When you decide you want high quality music in the kitchen and dining room or a home cinema in the TV Room then the hardware can be installed simply and with no cables in sight.

Patch Panel. Once your cables are installed, we test & identify all cables and terminate them into a compact patch panel. All of the connections in the enclosure are then labelled to make connecting up equipment simple, neat and tidy.
